  • As a visiting nurse, the cost of gas for my car and repairs is killing me. We get reimbursed the IRS going rate, but that cannot keep up with the cost of fuel, oil changes, winter tires, etc.

  • We don't call them "fake sick days" in our house; we call them mental health days. And I think they're as important as a "real" sick day!

  • boon....I not only remember dial-up, but when you had to actually place the phone (carefully!) onto the 300-1200-2400 baud modem for it to hear the dial tone! Maybe that dates me, but I'd often rather have those days back than the rash of misuse and abuse of the internet we have now.

  • Age does play a role, though, in many fields. It's an excellent point. If nothing else, usually the older/more experienced the applicant, the higher the paycheck. It's much less costly to hire younger, unfortunately. And for some jobs, it's the age-health or other age-related factors.

  • Poor grooming, definitely. Or perhaps it's better said poor hygiene. Clean hair, nails, teeth, clothes...combed hair, no BO, etc.
